Right, Nextspace is of course the crown jewel for any list of GNUstep projects! Fortunately you don't need to worry about trunkmaster's safety too much; his latest activity was on May 27, which means it hasn't been that long compared to the average length of his hiatus periods!

A bit of Google sleuthing tells me he's in his sixties and physically active, so he's probably pretty far away from the top of the most vulnerable people in Kyiv. We can take solace in that at least.

It aims to be a desktop environment that strongly follows openstep's interface guidelines, one of the most notable things is that the WM used is a fork of Windowmaker that uses GnuSTEP way more internally then Windowmaker itself ever did.

The only issue with it is that the main author trunkmaster, currently lives in the warzone that is Ukraine, and i earnestly fear that they might have become a causality of said war when they are inactive (currently they are inactive).

Wow very cool project!

I do wish and pray for all the poor people forced to war to find a peaceful way out in as much health as is possible.

This feature was added with v4.3. You can access it via Graphics options.

I'm glad it now compiles and runs also on Windows. I have invested quite some effort to keep the SDL2 version alive. There was just a little mistake (without functional impact) that your compiler complained about. Obviously my compiler is more tolerant. The other warning was just about a potentially uninitialised variable. Again my compiler seems to be more tolerant. In practice the variable couldn't stay uninitialised. But of course it is also something that had to be addressed because we don't like warnings.

Happy news. I built a new SDL3 today and it Just Worked. It identifies as version 3.5.0.0. So, we are now shipping:

These have been placed on previous.nextcommunity.net, alongside their contemporaries.
