I could be crazy, but I think it might technically be possible to port very old versions of Previous to use this for a lark. Any thoughts, @andreas_g? Horrified?

It might, but it won't be easy and the result won't be very statisfying. It might even be possible to port the latest version by removing some parts that are missing appropriate API equivalents.
