Welcome to the NeXTcommunity Marketplace board! This is a bit of an experiment but we hope it goes well.

So far we've roughed out the following recommendations for what to post here, and how to post it:

  • It's OK to post both WTB (want-to-buy) and WTS (want-to-sell) posts. Please prefix the title with "WTB:" or "WTS:" for easy access—but if you miss this we'll just do it for you.
  • When selling, the more complete your listing, the easier it is for people to trust that sending you money will have good results. Here's some suggestions:
    • If you know the specs of the hardware you're selling, post them.
    • If you can test whether something is in working condition or not, try to do so and state the results—or, if you can't, state that instead.
    • Consider posting pictures: these give a great summary of the condition, answer questions about hardware specifics that are beyond your expertise.
    • The best pictures include a sticky note or placard with your forum username and the date, giving viewers immediate confidence that these images are yours—or, at least, trying to look like they are yours.
Emphatically, none of the above is required, but it can only help!
  • When posting either type of thread, please include your general geographic area (e.g. what region of the US, or what country in Europe)—this saves time for people who have no chance of being within your market due to shipping costs.
  • Bargaining can happen in PMs (or anywhere else), so we don't expect you to list a price, but you should definitely have a look at eBay or ask around beforehand to make sure your starting numbers are sensible.
  • It's also OK to post findings from eBay—just provide the link and a sensible title. Make sure to include "eBay:" at the start of the thread topic so folks know you're not the seller.
  • If you're a vendor working on new hardware, this is also a place to announce releases and production runs. Please aim for one thread per product for the convenience of browsing. These should start with "(Official)" to disambiguate them from WTS threads for previously-owned items.
WARNING: preposterous time in Real Time Clock -- CHECK AND RESET THE DATE!
